Me in history class: Wow, humanity has been through some fascinating times! I wonder if I’ll ever live through major historical events!
Me now: NO NO NO NO NO I WANT TO GET OFF THIS RIDE

The House of Representatives voted in favor of destroying key provisions of the ADA to allow businesses to continue, penalty free, to remain inaccessible, possibly indefinitely.
All y’all who like to talk about ableism on here and are eligible to vote in the US:
call your senators. Tell them no on 620. Tell them why accessibility and the ADA matter to you.
This one is pretty fucking serious. It’s not about voter fraud, it’s about shitcanning everyone’s ability and right to vote.
Instead of being elected by the people, Senators would be chosen by the State legislatures, guaranteeing that the majority party would pick Senators of their own party.
If there is a vacancy the Governor would appoint a Senator for the remainder of the term. The pick could not be changed by the legislature or the public.
State legislators can recall a Senator at any time.
.If successful, they will reverse one of the great strides toward democracy in American history: the 1913 decision to end the corrupt practice of letting state legislators barter off Senate seats in backroom deals with campaign donors and lobbyists.
It seems gerrymandering the House is not enough for Republicans who want to completely shut out opposing voices. Yet, gerrymandering does fit with a long-term plan to turn America into a permanent single-party-rule nation.
With control of 32 state legislatures, the GOP would have an easy time hand-picking fascist-conservatives to fill up the senate.
Growing up fat, you get made fun of for everything you do, even basic shit like eating and laughing and breathing are funny when you do it because youre fat! And its so hard to not carry that with you as you get older, like I’m still embarassed to eat or dance in front of people or smile in pictures and its ridiculous and I hate it and I wish I was treated with more humanity
you know, Anon, it’s weird – as little as a year ago I would have said I was much more Thomas or Miranda-like, but it turns out that when I’m sufficiently provoked – um – I apparently remind a lot of people of a certain ginger pirate captain, and I have to say, I’m very definitely not bothered at all by that. I love books, he loves books. I have freckles, so does he. He tends to solve things in a very direct manner unless given no other choice and let me tell you – the older I get the less patience I have for bullshit unless there’s literally no other option, in which case we both excel at getting what we want one way or another. And I like to think that on good days, I still think that people are worth saving – we can’t be all bad all the time.
*is a ship obsessed anti-establishment, frequently angry short-ish person with a lot of freckles and a love of books and Thomas Hamilton* Guilty as charged!
