#silverflint#blacksailsedit#captain flint#john silver#i know this had been discussed before but something about this still won’t let me have peace#the first time flint smiled fondly at silver was right before silver started the lie about his betrayal#the next time he smiled at him the same way was after silver admitted (months later) that he lied to him#all those months in between they spent in disagreement as flint kept silver at arm’s reach#he distanced himself from the one person he was ready to start trusting#why ?? if he didn’t notice from the start that silver had lied straight to his face#(i honestly dont believe flint to be so stupid as to not at least suspect silver was behind it)#months of silent animosity coming from flint.. dismissing silver’s suggestions.. working against him#being downright RUDE towards him#silver was desperate to gain some support from flint.. some kind of relationship.. but flint pushed him away#until all that was left to do was to tell the truth#what if silver thought he was proving flint he’s his equal by telling him he outsmarted him#when in fact all flint was waiting for was a confession?#for silver to admit he betrayed him and to see he actually felt bad for it#once that happened flint could finally let go… he did nothing to retaliate.. just .. moved on#and a few minuts later he was smiling again… ready to trust him#(ofc there were other factors that had a part in flint’s behavior but i do believe this issue played a major one)#anyway… dont know if any of this makes sense .. y’all probably figured this out already im still catching up via @captain-flint
