Full of Grace is a story that’s always in my mind. I think what captivates me is the setting of “seeing the light in the darkness” and that they’re so close and yet so far. Probably one of my favourite fanfics in all the Black Sails fandom.

Awww – thank you so much! I love that one too – I’ve got such clear imagery in my head for it, but most of all the images of Hennessey’s office with him and Miranda drinking together, the scene in his house when they first talk, and the snowy, dark street and the inside of Bethlem the night that all the action goes down. I can picture all of those perfectly – it’s really a mood piece for the depths of winter for me.

I haven’t seen the video, Anon, but I’ve seen people talking about it. Quite frankly, I’m happy that they made the decision to not capitalize on gay people’s pain – it was a good, responsible decision. With that said – oh gods, Thomas. My baby. I think somewhere deep down I’d kind of hoped they’d just shipped him off to the plantation right away instead of actually sticking him in Bethlem and just – ow. I’ll be over here, needing infinitely more fic where he gets to be safe and happy and start handling his trauma in a place where he’s not enslaved. And quite a few fics where he’s not traumatized that way at all.

One year ago today, I was just starting an episode of Black Sails that had me absolutely at the edge of my seat, and just about at this point in the episode, I remember messaging @jamesflintmcgrawhamilton and going “HE’S ALIVE, I’D BET YOU ANYTHING YOU LIKE AND BE SURE OF KEEPING IT.” I was talking, of course, about Thomas Hamilton, and I’ve never, ever been more relieved to be right about something in all my life. That’s the word for it – absolute, bone-melting relief, because the BS writers did something absolutely brilliant – they put us all in James McGraw’s shoes, thinking Thomas dead and gone, and then raised the idea that he could have survived, teasing and hinting until suggestion became reality just when we all thought it couldn’t happen. Happy Thomas Hamilton Resurrection Day, everyone!
