we know that peter must have been one devious fucker, since apparently thomas ‘knew no one more skilled’ at getting political shit done. no one, NO ONE does that without being incredibly shady and good at getting other people to do stuff for them

what if he told james and miranda that thomas was dead so that they would kill alfred hamilton for him? i mean – alfred had already threatened him (‘my family’s standing, my daughter’s future!’) – so he almost certainly had something on peter, and whether he knew that james was flint or not, he probably knew him and miranda well enough to know what they would do when they heard of thomas’ death.

think about it. why was alfred travelling to charlestown? why, if he went to the trouble of travelling under an assumed name, would he allow this knowledge to fall into the hands of someone loyal enough to miranda to pass on this information?

it even sort of explains why he then doesn’t tell James and Miranda that Thomas’ is alive, because fuck there’s really no way he could explain it without making them want to kill him for it
