LISTEN I need everyone to go watch The Exorcist (the show, not the movie) on Amazon or Hulu so Amazon says “hey people are watching, how about a third season?” In return you will get:

-soft boys, often crying, more often touching each other on their soft boy faces

-kickass ladies

-John Cho

-Geena Davis

-smart criticisms of the Catholic Church by devout believers

-canonically gay main character who kisses another man on the mouth on your own TV screen

-condemnation of religious conversion therapy by a goddamn priest who apologizes to the victim directly for the actions of people who used religion as justification

-a found family of foster kids who all love each other VERY MUCH

-Mexican main character who often does his prayers/exorcisms in Spanish (and it’s Alfonso Herrera aka Hernando from Sense8 so like hello beautiful)

-distinction between believing in God and believing in the Church

-sensitive gay ex-priest abuse survivor with a harsh exterior fiercely telling an abused little girl she is loved and there is nothing wrong with her

-badass black man who cannot be killed

-a whole convent of exorcist nuns ready to fuck demons up

-my love and gratitude

crossroadscastiel:

Okay so I did a similar post about 6 months back, I know, but I decided it needed a revamp and also… it would be really nice to have some new people join us now that we’re fighting for a new home!!! There is SO MUCH I wasn’t able to include above because I ran out of room and my life is basically that John Mulaney joke about making a happy birthday sign. So!!! Here are some of the things I didn’t include above:

·The cast is super diverse!!! Especially in season 2 where the featured family is comprised of John Cho and his foster kids!!! These kids are SO amazing and truly diverse like… an actual blind character!!! An actual autistic character!!! The found family trope is strong with this one and I love my children so much.

·I can’t make a post about why this show is amazing without mentioning Bennett. We as a fandom can’t agree on if his first name is spelled Devon or Devin, but REGARDLESS he is a character deserving of all of the love. He starts out as a lowkey antagonist but he’s just trying his Best and fighting the good fight and I would die for him.

·Also there are multiple queer characters other than Marcus and the show really goes out of its way to be like uhhhhh the Church is def wrong for how it’s treated the queer community over the years and lmao I don’t wanna spoil anything but the Church isn’t really painted in the best light here so pls don’t go into this one expecting to be preached to. The religious themes are obviously strong but… it’s a show that explores religion without being forcefully religious you know.

·I keep mentioning John Cho without actually talking about John Cho but!!! He is so amazing in season 2!!! The best Island Dad who ends up playing multiple emmy-worthy roles, often within the same episode. Everyone I tell to watch the show that goes onto watch it is like WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME ABOUT JOHN CHO?! So. Ya know. John Cho.

Anyway!!! For those of you who don’t know, The Exorcist was recently canceled at Fox after 2 seasons and I am NOT going to rant about that here I’m NOT, but it was def not canceled because it’s a bad show!!! It was given a terrible time slot and they didn’t promote it well and I just don’t think that many people even know it existed.

But that doesn’t mean that it’s over!!! The amazing @vulcantastic has organized a weekly social campaign and as a fandom we’re contacting/tweeting various networks and streaming services to try and get them to pick up the show! Also, we definitely have the support of the creator, EP Jeremy Slater, and season 2′s showrunner and all around amazing guy, EP Sean Crouch. They’re not giving up, and neither are we. So if you watch the show and you fall in love, please come join us in our efforts!

If you have any questions about the show, my inbox is always open, or you can just shoot me a message if you’d like to chat! If you’re in the US, you can watch both seasons on Hulu, and I believe it’s available on Amazon and Netflix in various other places. If you’re unsure where to watch let me know and we’ll figure it out. ❤

#SaveTheExorcist 5/23: AMAZON PRIME TWEETATHON & SOCIAL CAMPAIGN

IT’S TIME FOR WEEK TWO: AMAZON!

This needs to be our BIGGEST initiative yet! Amazon Prime is our biggest shot at renewing The Exorcist—since Sean Crouch is working closely with the streaming service due to his involvement with Lore. It’s likely Sean has pitched the show to Prime or will soon, so it’s up to us to show that there’s real buy-in for it!

Rules are the same as last time. Between 5pm and 7pm on Wednesday, May 23rd, you can do any—or all—of the following:

  • Tweet @PrimeVideo (using TWO HASHTAGS ONLY: #SaveTheExorcist and #PrimeSaveTheExorcist. If you use more than that, your Tweet will be marked as spam). Make sure you TAG their Twitter account in each Tweet.
  • Write on Prime’s Facebook wall using the same hashtags.
  • Contact Amazon Prime via email/customer service.
  • Participate in The Exorcist Twitter game, pioneered by @cutiesonthehorizon. It’s a series of questions about the show where you can talk about your favorite aspects of it all while tagging Prime and using hashtags.

In your messages, focus on the following:

  • The Exorcist has a large horror fan base, so those who watch Lore would love the show and vice versa—bringing on high-quality horror is good for their brand
  • Speak to the show’s diversity, as you did with Hulu, illustrating that taking on The Exorcist would be great to show a commitment to diversity
