At around 4:30 a.m. Central Standard Time, our satellites detected a storm approaching the Ares 3 mission site on Mars. At 6:45, the storm had escalated to severe, and we had no choice but to abort the mission. Thanks to the quick action of Commander Hamilton, astronauts Vane, Guthrie, Bonny and Rackham were all able to reach the Mars Ascent Vehicle and perform an emergency launch at 7:28 Central Time. Unfortunately, during the evacuation, astronaut James McGraw was struck by debris and killed. Commander Hamilton and the rest of his team were able to intercept safely with the Hermes and are now heading home. But James McGraw is dead.
yes, but how about a canon divergent AU in which Abigail Ashe is an incredbly attentive and observant child and she especially likes playing hiding and also isn’t shy of eavesdropping.
so, what if one day, shortly before Thomas was sent to Savannah, she listens in to her father and Thomas’s father talking about it…
and years later when she meets Flint, she’s a young woman, but she hasn’t lost any of her attentivness and so she realises while talking to James and Miranda how much James must have cared about Thomas, still does, and then she asks something like: you liked him very much, didn’t you? Is this why they brought him away overseas?
and obviously nobody knew that Abigail knew about it, and at first James and Miranda are utterly confused, like why would Thomas be brought overseas, he died at Bedlam?
but then Abigail tells them what she remembers and they seek out Peter Ashe and confront him about it and in the end he confesses everything and James will be reunited with Thomas way earlier and Miranda is still alive and the three of them are living happily ever after in a house by the beach
screw “i shall sit here consumed with lust for the rest of the evening” more like “faint into my boyfriend’s buff naked arms because goddamn i’m real gay”
quartermasters swap au: where gates has to babysit vane, who really appreciates human disaster billy, and anne and joji pose together while flint and jack bond over their hate of the system
i am usually against the “he’s just a misunderstood baby who just needs a hug uwu” approach towards characters who commit evil acts but i feel like black sails would end if flint just had a good cry on silver’s shoulder
