I’m nothing if not a consummate bandwagon hopper, so I just want to say that Black Sails arrived in my life at a very difficult time, and when I found that the fandom was finally springing to life in a wonderful way I wasn’t in a good place at all. I’m not sure I’ve ever been in a worse spot, honestly. I won’t pretend that everything is fixed, or that any fandom has the power to be a magical healing balm for all the shit my head can conjure, but my god this one helped. You all made my world a less lonely and isolated place, and you made me feel as though I had a creative talent worth sharing. I’ll never be able to properly express just how important this fandom’s culture of enthusiasm, acceptance, and encouragement has been. I’ve never been part of anything like it before, and I don’t imagine it’s something I’m likely to find again any time soon. You’re all wonderful people and I’m so glad to have shared this experience with you. ❤
