He’s the greatest villain in the New World… It’s torture for him.

#I DIE EVERY TIME!!! I /DIE/!!! :“(#it seems almost pointless to say it bc toby stephens is /always/ phenomenal *snorts* but#his performance in this episode LITERALLY blows me away. like…I am just astounded. he is unbelievable.#flint is equal parts terrifying and heartbreaking in this episode D: especially at the beginning#the way toby plays him – gaunt face expressionless…eyes unblinking and empty…slow-moving and quiet – it’s like he’s just not /there/#he’s doing such horrible things and invalidating silver along the way and it’s upsetting and frightening#I feel so bad for silver bc he’s so torn and feeling out of his depths and flint really is being terrible to him#but I think it’s safe to say flint is suffering from ptsd and he’s just!!! in such a bad place and he really really needs help and ugh#you don’t even realize how much has been lost until he has that hallucination of miranda on her knees begging ‘forgive me’#and his face crumples a bit and we finally get access to /something/#and then this scene happens and he just feels EVERYTHING and we see EVERYTHING and after watching him walk around showing /nothing/#just holding everything at bay for so long#and he’s so alone he is alone in that room and in life (so he thinks) and he can’t keep it up anymore#it’s like he’s been Fully Flint™ partly bc what they’re trying to do requires him to be#and partly bc he thought he left james behind in charlestown when his life ended for the second time#but james mcgraw claws his way out and demands to be heard#IT’S SO HEARTBREAKING#honestly if someone doesn’t give him an emmy I will make him one myself#>:( (via @candlewinds)
