Was tagged by @greenleaf444stuff and @reluming. I’ve done it before, but the answers do change from time to time, so here it is again!

Last movie you watched? Return of the King. Yes I realize my last answer was Two Towers. Yes I am marathoning LotR (again). =P
Last song you listened to? Need You Now by Lady Antebellum.
Last show you watched? Killjoys. Finally finished Season 1.
Last book you read? I’m working my way through a book on poisons – A is for Arsenic.
Last thing you ate? Taco lasagna. It was delicious.
If you could be anywhere right now where would it be? Anywhere that wasn’t this damned office. Edinburgh, maybe. Dublin. Just – away. Somewhere warm would be nice with winter starting to set in.
Where would you time travel to? If I could do it without worrying about meds and things, then… I have to say the 18th century or so. Recent enough I’d speak the language and understand most of the customs and before the rise of industrialism.
First thing you would do with lottery money? Buy property and rent it, invest some of it, pay off my student loans, get my porch floor fixed, put up gutters and downspouts…. this is going to be a long, long list.
Character you would hang out with for a day? Aragorn. Quiet. Polite. Knows a shit ton of languages. Could give me pointers on archery. Or Thomas Hamilton.
Time right now?  not bloody close enough to closing time. (1:55 pm)

Last movie you watched? No idea. I think it was probably Two Towers, still.
Last song you listened to? The Iron Hills for Me. I’m not counting the dreck playing on the radio at work as I’m not really listening.
Last show you watched? I’m trying to recall. Killjoys, I think. I’m only on Season 1, so no spoilers!
Last book you read? Thieftaker: Thieves’ Quarry by D.B. Jackson.
Last thing you ate? A Snicker’s almond mini. For the record, they’re really gross.

The cat pictures are of my own two – Watson, the tabby and white, and Patches (lovingly referred to as Puttles) the calico. I apologize for the intrusion of my finger on the tree picture. As you might guess, the elf on the horse is Fëanor.

Rules: Tag 9 people you want to get to know better.

How old are you?: Just turned 28 last month

Current Job/Dream Job: I work in a college registrar’s office keeping records and answering phones and generally being helpful on a number of fronts. I’d ideally like to go back to school and get a second master’s degree, this one in library science, so I can go work in a college library or museum archive.

What are you talented at?:  I’m good at writing, learning languages, and making people laugh when I’m being sarcastic.

What is a big goal you are working towards (or have already achieved)?: I’m currently working on finishing To the Upper Air, which will be my second ever big long fic project.

What’s your aesthetic?: Kind of Bilbo Baggins meets the local witch.

Do you collect anything?: Books? Do books count? Funko Pop figures sort of?

What is a topic you’re always up to talk about?: Black Sails. Tolkien. Magic theory. English history.

What’s a pet peeve of yours?:  Gonna go with my previous answer and say people that make life unnecessarily difficult for other people. Like – how hard is it to be nice and not ruin people’s day?

Good Advice to Give: You have a right to be kind to yourself. Give yourself that nice thing that you’ve been saving up for and don’t feel guilty about it. Give yourself the space you need to deal with things. Don’t be afraid to be your own best advocate. And never, ever be afraid to tell someone to fuck off if they won’t respect your boundaries.

Recommend three songs?:

Um… ack. I love music. I love it so much. I have so many favorites, but these are some of the ones that pop into my head when nothing else does.

Lady of Shalott by Loreena McKennitt (based off the Arthurian legend)

The Ent and the Entwife by Adele McAllister (Based off a song in the Silmarillion that was supposedly written sometime in the First or Second Age of Arda)

The Old Man by Kate Rusby (It’s based off a poem in Middle English and I’m a nerd for things like that)

Tagging 9 people? Nah. Do it if you want – I have no idea who I tagged last time or who’s done it already. Have fun!

Four Albums That You’ve Listened To A Lot Recently

Hmm. Well, the only time I listen to actual albums is in my car on the way to and from work, so you get my driving music!

1. Jolly Rogers – No Refunds, Beg, Borrow, and Steal,  and Cutlass, Cannon, and Curves. I’m listing all of them because it’s all the same group. Good piratey music!

2. Black Sails soundtrack. Because of course.

3. Heather Dale – Call the Names, because I’m a medievalist at heart

4. Loreena McKennitt – The Mask and Mirror, and An Ancient Muse. Go listen to all her music if you’ve never done so.

Post your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers (◠‿◠✿). Do multiple fandoms if you want!

So, it’s been a while since I’ve posted any of my fics. Black Sails is the first fandom that I’ve posted anything for in… literally years, pretty much since I was in college, in point of fact, so most of this is going to be Black Sails fic. That said:

1. They That Sow the Wind – I can’t tell you how immensely proud I am of myself that I actually got all the way through this. I’ve actually never done another long fic that was all the way written and edited and posted, so I can’t say enough just how pleased I am with this one. I like so many things about it, but mostly that I had the stick-to-it-iveness to actually finish it and not pull my hair out by the roots in the process. It has a little bit of everything for everyone – romance, action, politics, epistolary fiction (that’s letters when it’s at home), OCs, even a look-in from a couple of characters from another fandom, and some fun historical and nerdy facts in the chapter notes.

2.  The Cure for Sorrow This has certainly been everyone’s favorite. It’s fluffy, it’s fix-it, and I edited the crap out of it so many times. So. Many. Times. The finished product you see is the result of hours of me sitting there staring at the screen muttering things like, “why don’t you work? Why won’t you just do as I say?” It was also the first thing I posted in the fandom that wasn’t a one-shot, so I’m kind of proud of it in its own way, even if I’m still not entirely sold on the characterization for Flint.

3. Green Eyed Fools (Named James) – This was actually the very first thing I wrote for the Black Sails fandom. It’s just a short little thing – two ruined Naval officers from two separate fandoms meeting in a bar to commiserate, but I still go back to it when I need to remind myself how to write Flint, and I still like the ending.

4. Through Hardships Unnumbered – Look, I know this one is soul-ripping angst. I know that it’s – well, I won’t say it’s not anyone’s favorite, because I can’t possibly know that, but I know it hasn’t exactly gotten much response. Regardless, I’m fond of it. It took forever to get the balance of it right, and I’m happy with the way it turned out. It’s also probably going to be the turning point from “Thomas Hamilton needs a hug” to “Thomas Hamilton did not painstakingly paste himself back together to put up with Woodes Rogers’ shit.”

Can I say one of my favorites is something I haven’t posted and probably won’t for a long time? If so, then it’s the one that I started for the Hobbit fandom and never finished. It’s got some scenes I’m very proud of that are so super clear in my head, some OCs that I’m also proud of, and a plot that I genuinely don’t think anyone’s done yet. And it might possibly have a Silmarillion prequel. The point is – it’s going to be long if it’s ever finished. Since you’re probably hoping for a real entry to this list though –

5. Four For a Boy – This is blatantly a fix-it for the scene where Flint leaves Miranda a book and quietly sees himself out of her little patch of happiness, because it broke me to watch. It’s kid fic, but the focus is not on the kid – it’s on the way that the said kid causes things to become fixed for the FlintHamiltons OT3. I also got the absolute pleasure of allowing Flint to literally beat Alfred Hamilton into a bloody pulp, so that was fun.

That’s it for this list! Tagging @shirogiku, @iwtv2007, @thewalruscaptain, @reluming, @char7, and anyone else who wants to do it!
