a réagi à votre billet “Okay guys hear me out though I know we’re all pretty convinced James…”aww, Laura, you know we love Peach verse! I could just see Thomas being so incredibly done with being stuck in one place, though – I mean, he spent ten years stuck with no traveling or seeing anything outside a small patch of land and however long farming with no option not to, so somehow I’d see him wanting to sail, or at least travel a lot. He’s got to be so restless by now.
Exactly 🙂 (also, I’m sorry for butting in, I’m not Laura, heh). I think I read in the tags somewhere that Thomas is someone who, for the first part of his life, had access to the entire world – ideas, and books, and salons, and probably travelling around the Continent, and meeting artists and scientists and poets. And then for ten years he was stuck in the same few acres, probably tortured in Bethlem, forced to do manual labor, and likely had little to no access to books or new ideas, and certainly couldn’t go anywhere. Someone with a mind as bright and keen at Thomas’, with his curiosity about the world, with his love of ideas…I think he’d want that back, honestly. That’s part of what they took from him: the ability to exercise his brilliant ind and use it to hits full potential, and what better gift to give Thomas than not only his freedom, but also the ability to fulfill that desire again?
So i also kind of like the idea of James commandeering a ship and taking Thomas to see the world. I know James is tired of the sea and wants to walk away from it and it has too many bitter memories for him at this point, but Thomas has literally been in one place for a decade. He’d want to get out and stretch his legs and James would want to give that to him. And maybe together they can make new memories on the sea, ones that aren’t bloody and awful, so that James learns to love the sea again. Maybe, after all he’s been through, Thomas would like to see Nassau, to know what it actually looks like. To travel up and down the East Coast of the united states, visiting the major colonies. In fact, they could even go to Philadelphia and meet a very young Benjamin Franklin.
okay but now imagine james and thomas turning up in nassau and james just going to thomas ‘okay watch this’ and then striding into the tavern. and the whole island hears jack rackham scream
