Do you have any theories about Silver’s past? The way he refuses to talk about it seems like he’s done something bad rather than it being inconsequential. Also did you notice when flint tells him “that’s not true”, Silver’s voice kind of breaks when he replies “why isn’t it true?” 😩 I need them to hug before this is over!!!

captain-flint:

every time i hear that ‘’why isn’t it true’’ and see silver’s vulnerable young face i want to die.

as for his past, the more i think about it the more i imagine it was absolutely terrifying. not that he did something bad, but rather that something traumatic and horrible happened to him and that’s why he can’t share it. he says he saw the world as a place of unending horrors. that kind of pov can easily come from someone who’s experienced those horrors on their own skin, not from someone who’s deliberately inflicted horrors on the world. in that scene when he’s talking about it, there’s so much vulnerability, he looks so small and scared, he’s apologizing to flint for not being able to share it because he’s ashamed. i’ve never felt more heartbroken for him than in that moment. i can’t for the life of me interpret it as him hiding a wicked past. for example, i saw a theory where he’s a serial killer. how? he was introduced as the coward who a) didn’t know how to fight and b) always ran away from a fight. he’s been running away his whole life it seems.

anyway, i wholeheartedly agree with this meta, so instead of just repeating what’s already been said, please read it (if you haven’t already). it’s incredibly insightful and really puts his whole character in a different perspective. a very tragic one at that.
