Awesome! I will offer you the same advice that I offer everyone that starts the series fresh: just stick with it until the middle of the second season. It’s absolutely worth it – trust me.

Basically it’s a prequel to Treasure Island set some twenty or so years before. The main character is Captain Flint, joined by John Silver, Billy Bones, and a whole bunch of historical figures such as Charles Vane, Blackbeard, Benjamin Hornigold, and Jack Rackham along with a lot of badass original lady characters. The plot is the fight between England and the pirates of Nassau as to who was going to own the island of New Providence and Flint’s place in that fight. It’s subtle, it’s nuanced, and at the same time it’s everything you’d expect out of a show about pirates.
