The doors of the Spanish Man O’War Fucking Warship(were pretty).
In the end I didn’t want to draw just the doors, even though I do find them really pretty and that was my initial idea. So, I added yet another pair of backs and silhouettes and made this and myself a bit sad. James and Miranda are about to leave the ship to see Peter Ashe… Please, do not repost elsewhere 🙂

I watched all of Black Sails in two weeks, it broke my heart and blew my McFreaking mind, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! If you love the #Concept of gay anti-colonialist pirates, please get thyself to a television with all possible haste.

Miranda & James
This started with a photo I found of T’s face for my last sketch, which just had that lovely dip in his cheekbones in shade. From there I used a few different caps, Miranda’s face is from Nassau, I added costume from her giving him Don Quixote. Hands and arms are my composition, a bit wooly on the shirts/lace cuffs again. It was a toss up between other figure being Thomas, Miranda and Admiral Henessey. I hadn’t drawn her in a while, so she won. This is 6 hrs over 3 days. Hb/h mechanical pencil, on vellum Bristol.
During their escape from London Miranda turned Thomas into a cat to smuggle him out of England. Now in Nassau no counter spell is working to turn him back.

So, right, this kind of happened. A half hour Toby sketch from a pixelated cap got out of hand. I was supposed to be off out for food. There are a fair few things not working. James hand too small, cap: I took off the mustache, plus cap has shade over face. Thomas is ok. James: meh. Shirt collars in both are not quite working. Still, I like the angst and went with it. Why I started T’s head bigger than usual with less info is beyond me. My main goal was to sit my arse down and draw something, anything. 2hrs, hb mechanical pencil
