@cc5 HOKAY SO

It’s probably one of the dopest games I’ve ever played in my life, certainly one of the most viscerally satisfying. It’s a secondary world fantasy FPS set in a city based heavily on Victorian England (the second main game is set in a port city in a country more like Italy or Spain) so it’s kinda steampunk but also not quite because the tech is all different and things run on whale oil instead of steam. In the first game YOU ARE CORVO ATTANO, the chief bodyguard to the Empress Jessamine Kaldwin (who is also your SUPER DUPER SECRET GIRLFRIEND WITH WHOM YOU HAD A DAUGHTER only you both really suck at keeping secrets so basically everyone knows it’s going on). Jessamine is killed by assassins and you get framed for it and you spend the rest of the game hunting down the members of the conspiracy that ruined your life and using magic to bend time and space to your will and also you can eat rats for mana which is possibly a bad idea because a rat plague is going on and also a cute twink god who pretty obviously has a Thing for you is there?

This is what Corvo looks like, can you guess why I developed an attachment to this game, bet you can’t

No I don’t have a Type, why would you ever think such a thing

IN THE SECOND GAME it’s fifteen years later and Corvo’s daughter Emily is Empress and there’s a surprise coup because of course there is and you can play as either Corvo or Emily and the cute twink god is back and everything is really pretty but also grim af and there are a lot of angsty emotions.

This is Emily, I would die in a war for her

There are a ton of fantastic female characters including some really compelling villains and they’re not sexualized at all and there are a bunch of PoC (Corvo is not technically white either because he’s from Mediterranean Analogue Country though a lot of people draw him that way) and queer people and the story deals with colonialism and class issues in a very neat way and the good/evil system is genuinely complex much more in line with Mass Effect than Bioshock.

(There are also like literally no dresses, like none of the women wears a single dress including aristocrats at parties and I don’t know why but that aesthetic choice is so amazing to me and I fucking love it)

I am not into this thing the whole-souled way I’m into TWD but god I adore it so much and I’m writing a weird and HIGHLY morally questionable fic which I will be updating later today.

So that’s my Dishonored schpiel.

And for those of you who don’t play games there are always Let’s Plays on YouTube and shit.
