You know what is hard?

Flint could have been so big in the Navy. I mean seriously big! He would have lead with both strength and softness, would have treated his men right and they would have followed him.

I mean the redcoats in the last episode (4×6) just followed Flint without a word, waited for his commands to follow. And there Flint is a pirate. What power would he have held as a Navy still?

Urg… pirates would have feared James McGraw as the Navy now fears James Flint.

Things I don’t want to happen in the last few episodes:

1. Jack Rackham being captured and hung
2. Anne dying
3. Max and Anne never reconciling
4. Billy hurting Madi or Flint to get revenge on Silver
5. Silver betraying Flint/telling Hands to get rid of him
6. Flint ending up alone and miserable
7. Not seeing the flashback to Silver’s past we were meant to see
8. Not having a confirmation of exactly what Flint means to Silver
9. Thomas dying in James’s arms after they’re finally reunited

I really want Flint to return to forefront because what happens to him is some seriously fascinating shit. We saw MacGraw transform into Flint. But now he’s transforming back to MacGraw. I need to see that properly! It’s a double transformation ffs! I don’t really need to see Silver transforming into LJS because we already got that with MacGraw/Flint, we know what that process looks like. What we haven’t seen is what it takes to return from the abyss. And that’s happening with Flint right now!

^^^^^^ YES!

this is perhaps the most interesting he’s been so far because he’s regressed back to james mcgraw more than ever before. we saw glimpses of mcgraw in the flashbacks and on the few occasions when miranda brought him back to the surface, but now it’s like that’s all there is to him. now we see glimpses of flint emerging here and there, while mcgraw owns the stage. it’s so refreshing. remember how the process started in the 2nd half of season 2 after miranda convinced him to make peace with peter ashe? he started to shed flint then, he was so very close to becoming james mcgraw again, but miranda’s death remade that armor and made it stronger than ever. with silver’s friendship he began the process again, because that’s all he needs to subdue/destroy flint – love and understanding. this season has been all about flint working desperately too keep those things in his life, he still needs silver. not just to win this war, he needs his friendship to stay alive, to stay rational because flint without mcgraw means death and destruction. now what i’d like to see is flint learning to maintain that persona when their inescapable end comes. i need him to not fall apart again. i need him to understand that he can carry himself, that he can be good on his own. this would be the only satisfying ending to his character, instead of falling back to where he started.

in other news, i’m living for the moment they put him back into focus again because i want MORE. this is such an incredible character development and it’s happening in the background.

as for silver, i agree 100%. i know he had to be in the spotlight eventually, this is his story as much as it is flint’s, but changing POVs so abruptly kind of left the narrative on shaky legs. it feels like they’re just recycling flint’s storyline, except it’s cheaper and somewhat cliched. also, it’s simply not as gratifying when you know the outcome, that is this story will likely end with silver staying LJS and the rest will be left up to interpretation.
