James Flint Appreciation WeekDay 1: Favourite Scene

Spare yourself the humiliation.
Spare her.
I’ll see she’s interred with proper respect, her name clear. Let her go to her rest peacefully. You cannot tell me that isn’t what she would have wanted.

She was clear about what she wanted and I don’t think it had anything to do with begging your forgiveness. What she wanted was the truth to be known. What was the truth of it, my lord? Why did you betray those closest to you all those years ago? Was it really so small and vile as a bribe? The promise of lording over other men in this place? Or were you simply too weak to say no?

James Flint Appreciation Week: Day 1 – Favorite Scene

I loved James and Madi’s connection.  There were few characters that James actually respected and she was one of them – this scene showed the birth of that respect, imo.  It gradually transitioned, from a man speaking to (what he believed to be) a naive young girl, to one General/Commander (idk the military terminology, sorry) speaking to another, but not in a way that was jarring or unrealistic.  The Don Quixote quote was a nice touch, highlighting their shared belief that humanity is so much more than its greatly flawed societiesI also think this scene suggested that the war wasn’t just the unchecked whim of a madman, but rather the true faith effort of a man who honestly believed in the possibility of change.  James and Madi were both visionaries and it kind of makes you wonder what they could have accomplished together, even after the war effort fell apart.
