lordheron:

you know, we and the show talk a lot about flint’s gift for making speeches and silver’s way of spinning the truth and even billy’s back for building a legend, but you know who had some genuinely evocative lines?

miranda

besides the (correctly) celebrated burn your city line, she says something to eleanor that, even before we understand the true depths of what she’s saying, is so fucking good

lordheron:

sometimes i remember miranda’s last words to peter ashe and how perfectly louise barnes conveyed miranda’s fury

“i want to see this whole goddamned city, this city that you purchased with our misery, burned”

and the fact that even though she didn’t get to see it burn, flint remembered her and told ashe “her word” as the city truly did burn

lesbianwaves:

i don’t like it when people reduce eleanor to like, just being business savvy and a morally neutral type of sly as if she weren’t co-running the revolution with flint for a season and a half, as if she wasn’t the woman whose still fury and relentless justice scared anne bonny for a good 5 seconds… like she’s complex and she’s cunning and she ends in an unfortunate place that suggests a shifting moral center… but she’s not without a core nor without a compass… she gets spit out of her own story, she’s no martyr but i adore that about her… she just isn’t self-less and she puts herself first and that’s often the standard state for male characters tbh

leslieknopedanascully:

i re-watched the first episode of black sails last night and i can’t stop thinking about how anne is introduced; it’s night and she literally steps out from behind jack and her hat is obscuring her face and her shoulders are hunched…but then in the final scenes of the finale she’s standing tall in the sun and you can see her whole face and her eyes are so bright and she gets the last line of dialogue, calling on the crew to ready the ship to sail away. and just…thinking about how her character arc was centered around grappling with past trauma and realizing that she’s deserving of love & care……
