There is a quality, Hal Gates thinks in the back of his mind, to an abandoned stretch of coast. It’s meant, for one, to be abandoned – devoid of people. Home to birds and the like – and not, he thinks, kicking once again at the pieces of his wrecked boat, bloody fucking useless idiot pirates too stupid to not go out in a ship-killer in a launch out of some stupid desire to avoid having a drink with the man who may have killed his son.

In which Gates lives, and the events of Season 1 and 2 play out very differently.

And for And the Sea With Its Deepness, I honestly have no clue what song I would use – it’s going to eventually be a triumphant returning of one James McGraw to his family and a reunion between James, Thomas, Miranda, and Admiral Hennessey after a great deal of trouble and sorrow. Maybe this one?

So – people who have read Cup of their Deserving – tumblr fam – friends, probably not Romans, and fellow citizens of this hellsite – do I do a really long chapter for the penultimate chapter of CotD, and make you wait a bit longer, or do I do two shorter chapters, albeit the first one sans the ass-kicking that I’ve promised you due to the cutoff point?
