oh absolutely. this is all so they can get rescued, what’s the point otherwise? I *do* want them to be happy. honestly

See? We’re not evil, not really! Just… you know… anything at all is better than Thomas being dead in Bedlam and James being shattered over it for the rest of forever. Including this kind of pain if a happy ending is the payoff, right?

Even Hennessey – god i just can’t wait for Miranda to bring James back to Nassau… do Thomas and Hennessey think he’s dead? ‘my son’ – this killed me, im dead. and poor thomas feeling so helpless… they will be okay, right? (i just want to hug them all)

Thank you! Not going to go into too much detail because spoilers but yes – Thomas and Hennessey do in fact think he’s dead, and I am so, so looking forward to writing the moment they realize he’s not! It’s going to be awesome.

imagine an au where instead of abigail ashe being taken hostage by ned lowe (then charles vane), it was thomas… imagine miranda finding out and rushing to stop flint from attacking the fort… flint telling vane ‘There is a man in your possession. His name is Thomas. Give him to me and I will stand down my men, you can have the fort’… imagine them happy and together and not dead (save for james’ ‘SHIT I ALMOST GOT THOMAS KILLED’ guilt)

You will never believe this but I honest to gods have a fic like this sitting in tiny bits and pieces in my drafts, except it was Thomas and Abigail together getting captured and Miranda only finding out Thomas was there after Eleanor gets them both out of the cell.
