Sore Loser Trump: Clinton will only win Pennsylvania if she cheats

justinspoliticalcorner:

Donald Trump again raised the specter of election fraud Friday, saying that the only way he would lose Pennsylvania is to Hillary Clinton is if “they cheat.”

The Republican nominee, speaking at a rally in Altoona, Pennsylvania, repeated his concerns about the fairness of the election.

“The only way we can lose, in my opinion — I really mean this, Pennsylvania is if cheating goes on and we have to call up law enforcement and we have to have the sheriffs and the police chiefs and everyone watching because if we get cheated out of this election, if we get cheated out of a win in Pennsylvania, which is such a vital state especially when I know what is happening here,” he said. “She can’t beat what’s happening here. The only way they can beat it in my opinion, and I mean this 100 percent, if in certain sections of the state they cheat.”

Trump has repeatedly claimed the election is “rigged” against him, laying some of the blame on the media.

Trump is trailing Clinton by more than 9 points in Pennsylvania polls, one of several key battleground states in which he has slumped recently.

Okay, dashboard, this is not a “reblog me or be shamed” post, but I would really like you to please pay attention to this for a moment, because this is the only, singular post about this I’ve seen and I had to hunt it down in the tags myself on mobile-

Donald Trump has just called for his voters to harass people going into the polls.

No, seriously, look at his exact words here – “We’re going to watch Pennsylvania. Go down to certain areas and watch and study and make sure other people don’t come in and vote five times.”

Did you know that Pennsylvania is an ex-voter ID state? The same voter ID laws Trump alludes to here? Did you know that approximately 9% of the PA electorate was estimated to be disenfranchised by those laws? Did you know that Hillary is heading Trump in PA by about 10%? Did you know that during voter ID law times, many states had an issue with ‘concerned citizens’ like True the Vote harassing people outside the polls demanding to see their IDs? Because that’s exactly what Trump is talking about here.

Voter fraud is vanishingly rare. It is virtually statistically impossible for it to affect the outcome of an election without being caught – thousands of cases would have to occur for even close elections, let alone ones where Trump is trailing by 10 points. This is not some legitimate concern – it’s a thinly veiled excuse to harass voters in ‘some areas’ – e.g., areas that are more likely to vote Democrat – e.g., heavily Black and Latino areas. (Potentially college campuses as well, though that’s a bit dicier because a lot of campuses will have their own polling station with campus security who tend not to fuck around.)

So guys, please be aware – no one can prevent you from entering a polling place. No one has the right to demand your ID, or any identifying information. The poll workers are exclusively inside. If you see anyone committing voter harassment like this, please call 1-866-OUR-VOTE.

not voting for hillary clinton is a vote for donald trump

But also THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO CHOICES IN THIS ELECTION pls people, I know it seems unlikely, but if everyone who didn’t want either candidate wrote in a name, someone else would stand a chance [and we could live with ourselves, not having voted for one or the other]

no they wouldn’t, literally do not do this

please educate yourself about nader and the 2000 presidential election before encouraging this literally terrible idea

People on both sides say “Not voting for my candidate is a vote for the other guy” No, it’s just not a vote for your fucking candidate. Vote for who you actually believe in, otherwise you might as well not vote.
If Hillary actually gave a damn she would try harder than just say “Vote for me cause I’m not Trump” No bitch, how about you show me something I can believe in.
God damn, no wonder so many people don’t fucking vote.

*sigh*

Let me explain why they say a vote for a 3rd candidate or not voting for Hillary is voting for Trump:

The United States does not have a direct democratic voting system. We have an indirect system called the electoral college. The electoral college is  a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens.

To win the Presidency you do not need a popular majority; you need the majority of votes of the electoral college.

The way the college works is that the two parties select the delegates that will serve as electors, and the electors pledge to vote for the candidates, depending on their party affiliation, of either the democratic or republican party. So, when people go vote, they are actually going to vote for electors that have pledged to vote for a specific party/candidate.

Each state is allocated a different number of electoral seats, and so not every state is truly worth the same given that every candidate is racing to secure 270 seats (minimum required to win the election).

What’s important to note is that the electoral college is a winner take all vote in 48 of the 50 states, meaning that the candidate with the higher number of votes in a given state will get ALL of the seats. This is one of the reasons why third party candidates are a wasted vote.

Based on our country’s history, most States around the country have already been defined as either red or blue, because the majority of the people that go and vote in said states tend to stick to either one or the other no matter who is on the ballot. It becomes a bit of loyalism to a party or, more accurately, just a strong distaste towards the ideals of the other party. However, there are a few swing states that really define the elections, for each election cycle they tend to change depending on who is on the ballot.

Now, third party candidates, which is often used as a protest vote, have never worked because a) they are not written into every state ballot, meaning that there are states that don’t offer these candidates given that they did not qualify b) have rarely gotten enough votes to even be up for electoral seats c) ALWAYS end up hurting one of the two candidates, for, in close runs, they can make one of the other two candidates lose a SWING STATE.

This is what happened with Ralph Nader in 2000. The votes that he received hurt Gore in certain states, particularly florida, which led to Bush winning as he had the majority of electoral seats even though he did not have the majority in popular vote.

Now, in the latest poll, it shows that the race between Hillary and trump is very close, and, when third party candidates are involved, it actually HURTS Hillary’s chances.

Now, if it hurts her enough, Trump can obtain the much needed swing states. If he gets over 270 seats (and thus more than hillary) he WILL win the goddamn election.

This is not a year to vote for a third party candidate. This is not a man you want in the oval office of the most powerful country in the world.

There is nothing NOTHING you can pull out that will make Trump the lesser of two evils.

We live in a country that has a two party system, so yes, a vote for a 3rd party candidate or a non-vote IS actually a vote for trump.

And if you think it won’t happen? I have one word for you: BREXIT. This is EXACTLY what happened here; people either voted on fallacious information or didn’t vote at all and now we’re politically SCREWED. I don’t want to see that happen to you guys too – not with this much at stake.

WHAT THIS MEANS:

  • 34 Senate seats are up for election this year.
  • All 435 House of Representative seats are up for election this year.
  • A total of 469 seats in the US Congress is up for election in November 8, 2016.
  • In order to TAKE BACK the chamber, Democrats need to gain 5 seats.
  • In order to FLIP the chamber, the Democrats need to gain 30 seats.
  • Democrats only have 10 seats to defend while Republicans have 24.
  • Confirmation of a new Supreme Court justice requires 60 votes in the Senate
  • Should Democrats fail to retake the Senate in 2016, it is unlikely that they will get another opportunity until at least 2020.

It’s incredibly important that we place attention not only to the presidential candidates, but to the Senators and Representatives that are up for election this year.

For more info about who’s running, please check this website: https://ballotpedia.org/United_States_Congress_elections,_2016

This is a good reminder to vote in downballot races even if the presidential race isn’t competitive in your state. (It won’t be competitive in mine unless something goes really wrong for the Clinton campaign.) The numbers above are a bit confusing though since they don’t specify which chamber they’re talking about. The 5 seats “to TAKE BACK the chamber” and the “10 seats to defend” refer to the Senate. The Democrats have a good chance of taking back the Senate as long as their incumbents hold serve and Democratic voters turn out in states with Republican incumbents. The 30 seats “to FLIP the chamber” refers to the House. That will be much harder since so many districts are not competitive.

Y’all gotta vote.

DO NOT JUST VOTE FOR PRESIDENT

DON’T EXPECT THINGS TO CHANGE IF YOU DON’T GENUINELY PARTICIPATE IN THE POLITICAL PROCESS

hey here’s some facts about the DNC leak

our-lady-of–singularities:

digoxin-purpurea:

1. The DNC reported a hack of its emails by a Russian server a month ago.

2. A cybersecurity company agreed with the identification of the hacker as Russian and noted that one of the hacking groups involved was operated by the Russian military intelligence service.

In mid-June the company announced that the intruders appeared to include a group it had previously identified by the name “Cozy Bear” or “APT 29” and been inside the committee’s servers for a year. A second group, “Fancy Bear,” also called “APT 28,” came into the system in April. It appears to be operated by the G.R.U., the Russian military intelligence service, according to federal investigators and private cybersecurity firms.

3. From the same article: Pro-Putin Russian hackers have been a thorn in the side of American cybersecurity for years now.

The first group is particularly well known to the F.B.I.’s counterintelligence unit, the C.I.A. and other intelligence agencies. It was identified by federal investigators as the likely culprit behind years of intrusions into the State Department and White House unclassified computer system.

4. Wikileaks, along with publishing the emails, published unredacted credit card numbers, passport numbers, social security numbers, and home addresses of hundreds of Democratic donors. They called this “not an error.” This is known as doxxing, and it is illegal in US jurisdictions.

Doxing is always illegal, whether it is done against a federal employee, a state employee, or a regular person.  There are federal and state laws that specifically address doxing government employees.  With regular citizens, doxing falls under various state criminal laws, such as stalking, cyberstalking, harassment, threats, and other such laws, depending on the state.  Since these doxing threats and activities are made on the internet, the law of any state may be invoked, though most often an investigator  will look to the state in which the person making the threat is located, if this is known, or the state in which the victim is situated.  A state prosecutor can only prosecute violations of the laws of his or her own state, and of acts that extend into their state.  When acts are on the internet, they extend into all the states.
Misinformation was spread that doxing is legal.  I am not sure how or why anyone fell for that misinformation.  Surely, people must understand instinctively, even if they were misled about the law, that if they are threatening someone or putting them at risk, or tormenting or harassing the other on the internet, that this must be illegal.  Common sense would tell you that bullying or jeopardizing another would be illegal in some way.  So yes, doxing is illegal, no matter who the target.

5. Wikileaks has offered support to the racist, sexist agitator and Trump supporter Milo Yiannopoulos after his ban from Twitter for inciting hate mobs. This support was not merely a tweet or two extending a hand: it was an offer to build an entire new social network fine-tuned to Yiannopoulos’ needs.

6. Milo is a vocal Trump supporter and headlined an event at the RNC.

7. Wikileaks is run by Julian Assange, an accused rapist, who has for years taken a paycheck from Russia Today, the English-language propaganda arm of the Kremlin.

8. Trump, blacklisted as he is from borrowing form most US banks, has enticed mostly investors from Russia to prop up his floundering enterprises.

After his bankruptcy and business failures roughly a decade ago Trump has had an increasingly difficult time finding sources of capital for new investments. As I noted above, Trump has been blackballed by all major US banks with the exception of Deutschebank, which is of course a foreign bank with a major US presence. He has steadied and rebuilt his financial empire with a heavy reliance on capital from Russia. At a minimum the Trump organization is receiving lots of investment capital from people close to Vladimir Putin.

9. Trump is pro-Putin to the point where he would not defend other NATO member nations against Russian attacks.

10. Trump’s right hand man, Paul Manafort, was for almost a decade an advisor to Viktor Yanukovych, the ousted president of Ukraine who now lives in exile in Russia and is a major Putin ally. Trump’s other top staffers tend towards supporting the Russian government/elite in various ways.

11. There is nothing in the DNC emails that indicates breaking of any laws.

12. Bernie Sanders only declared himself a Democrat this election cycle. The DNC was not obligated to support him, and yet they did – there are emails where staffers complain about bending over backwards for the Sanders campaign. There’s also an email from the Sanders campaign demanding a private jet  to be paid for by the DNC after Bernie had reached the point where it was mathematically impossible for him to win the nomination. (They also called Lin-Manuel Miranda a baby for not doing a fundraiser on his off day, which is frankly hilarious.)

12c. Bernie Sanders lost the Democratic nomination by 3,775,437 votes. He lost badly among registerd Democrats, black Democrats, and Latino Democrats. If the DNC is incompetent enough not to secure their servers against hackers, they are sure as shit not capable of stealing nearly four million votes.

13. Hillary Clinton does not have mind-control powers and is not responsible for every single word typed in a private DNC email server.

14. The release of the emails was timed for when Trump would have a large amount of goodwill – the “convention bump,” as noted in several large-scale polls by reputable organizations – and before the Democrats/Hillary would have a chance to respond to the bump at their own convention.

15. Trump has engaged in much worse political ratfucking of his same-party opponents than the DNC did in its emails, in public, and it is widely known that the RNC has been attempting to sabotage him for months.

16. It ain’t like Putin hasn’t done shit like this before. He killed a journalist with plutonium. I could go on about what he does inside his country, but I’m not super familiar with it, and frankly "sitting head of state ordered the assassination of a journalist in exile by means of nuclear material" is fucked up enough.

Conclusions that can be reasonably drawn from these facts:

1. Wikileaks, whatever its intentions in the past, is not a neutral whistleblower and cannot be, given the money their founder draws from the Russian government.

2. The DNC did not engage in any political ratfuckery beyond what is normal for any and especially this cycle, nor did they break any laws.

3. Wikileaks is not a progressive actor, given its support for both Milo Yiannopoulos and Vladimir Putin.

4. The hackers sat on the material for more than a month, and the reveal of the documents was timed to hurt Hillary Clinton and buck up Trump.

Other conclusions that can be drawn:

1. Trump and Putin colluded somehow on this hack job.

2. Putin wants Trump in the White House because Trump has, among other things, publicly stated that he will not defend NATO states bordering Russia if Russia invades, and is willing to sponsor illegal activity to make this happen.

Conclusions the FBI has drawn:

The FBI is publicly saying that they suspect the Russian government did this. Several unnamed US officials suspect this was “a deliberate attempt to influence the presidential election in favor of Donald Trump, according to five individuals familiar with the investigation of the breach.”

(Also, on that note – the DNC is not gonna accuse a foreign state of trying to influence the election via cyberterrorism without some cold hard proof. That’s not an accusation you throw around lightly, especially when you represent one of the two largest parties in America.)

TL;DR

Debbie Wasserman Schultz complaining about an independent tanking her anointed candidate should not make you mourn the death of American democracy. What should be making you furious – and terrified, honestly – is that a foreign state, led by an autocrat with a history of human rights abuses, has used a “pro-transparency” organization to achieve its goal in installing a malleable strongman and has committed cyberterrorism in the process.

Please don’t vote third party this election. Please.

It was probably inevitable that somebody was going to get their hands up Wikileaks’s ass & turn it into a puppet.

“I’m just exploring all my options”

You have no options. Voting for a third party candidate is effectively throwing your vote away. It’s a BINARY CHOICE

You are going to get us all killed.
You are going to get us all killed.

You might not remember what happened last time, but I do. Leftists swore up and down an Al Gore Presidency would be “just as bad” as a Bush Presidency. That was the EXACT phrase they used.

“Al Gore is a corpratist,” they said.

“I want to vote for something instead of against something,” they said.

Now, over a decade later, the entire GLOBE is still trying to correct what was done during the Bush administration–global financial collapse, SCOTUS nominees, TWO endless wars, drone strikes, the Patriot Act, No Child Left Behind, Isis, DICK CHEYNEY.

Open your eyes and see how the tide is turning. For the past 10 years, there’s been a steady rise of right-wing ideology and politics. There’s UKIP and the Brexit, France and their damn neo Nazi Marine Le Pen, whatever is happening in Brazil right now. Canada only just ousted a leader who muzzled scientists who spoke about climate change!

And now we have the possibility of Trump. Trump who, as of this moment, has a 38% chance of winning according to Five Thirty Eight. Not 38% of the vote. 38% chance of winning. Those aren’t terrible odds. They’re better odds than rolling a specific number on a die, 16.68%.

Do you understand that we have a chance to flip the Supreme Court for the first time since the 60’s?

Remember all that Civil Rights shit from the 60’s? Do you know what happened to it, why it didn’t usher in a new age of equality like MLK’s Dreamers hoped? The Burger Court happened to it. The Burger Court is the conservative-majority Supreme Court that came into power in the backlash following the 60′s. With that Court came a conservative jurisprudence that would last for generations. It was the Burger Court that stymied de-segregation efforts, and created ‘white flight’ by ruling that de-segregation orders couldn’t be extended past district lines. It was the Burger Court that laid the groundwork for Citizens United, when they ruled that corporations could spend money in politics. Everyone was so shocked when SCOTUS ruled corporations are people and money=speech. Well, thank the Burger Court!

Now, for the first time in SEVERAL DECADES there is an opportunity to flip the Supreme Court. We haven’t had a liberal jurisprudence since the 60′s. And look at what’s coming down the pipe–anti trans laws like HB2, Affirmative Action, housing rights, repealing Citizen United, immigration, abortion, gun control, police brutality, climate change, etc.

I am begging you to vote Hillary. And tell others to vote Hillary. I won’t quibble over whether her policies are better than Trump’s (they objectively are) or whether or not she is a better person than Trump (that’s…more subjective). The SCOTUS nominations should be reason enough. PLEASE don’t make me live through a Trump administration. Please don’t do this again.

Latina trans woman chiming in to add that I am doing my damnedest to get all of my documents updated before the election, because if that two-chambers russian roulette chance pops up I want to at least have everything in order.

But even then, if Trump wins there’s a very good chance that I will die. Three trans women have been murdered within twenty-five miles of my house in the past NINE MONTHS, and I live in a fairly liberal state. If Federal law turns against me, I lose what little protections I have, and my risk of death by murder skyrockets.

And that’s not even looking at healthcare! Currently I am only able to obtain HRT because in my state Medicaid is required to cover transgender health services. With a Republican Supreme Court and Congress, not only does that go out the window but so does Obamacare and the Medicaid expansion which is how I have health insurance in the first place.

If you care even the slightest bit about my safety as a human being, you will

GO OUT AND VOTE CLINTON AND DEMOCRATIC ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BALLOT

This is absolutely about survival, and a Trump presidency will in no uncertain terms be anathema to my continued existence. Please, I beg of you: help me stay alive.

Please let us LIVE.

They’re also trying to bar women from combat positions (again), ban pornography, stop cohabitation of unmarried couples, and give federal parks back to the states because that obviously won’t result in 80% of them being completely destroyed for profit.

Oh, and then there’s this (from the Times article):

The

legislating, stipulating “that man-made law must be consistent with
God-given, natural rights.”

It
also encourages the teaching of the Bible in public schools because,
the amendment said, a good understanding of its contents is
“indispensable for the development of an educated citizenry.”

Bear in mind, this isn’t Trump’s platform.  It’s the WHOLE FUCKING PARTY.  So remember:  It still is not enough to vote for President and wash your hands of everything else.  Know what’s going to be on your ballot, and vote in EVERY race.  Get these fuckers out of office before they make their shitty platform federal law.

Every marginalized group risks more under Republican rule, and by and large, we cannot leave. Not just that, but as bad as Democrats can be, Republicans are even more pro-war and pro-torture, and the choices of US leadership have a massive global effect.

Bernie has established himself. He will continue to fight for his policies. Voting Democratic is the only real option.

THIS

It doesn’t matter if you’re dissapointed or upset that Bernie Sanders isn’t the democrat nominee…if you want to see ANY of his policies have a chance of happening you still need to vote democrat in this election and vote for Hillary Clinton because you can sure as hell bet that if Trump gets in we’re not going to see ANY of Bernie’s policies happen

Basically, Bernie would’ve been a high-speed express train toward progressive goals. As it happens, that train is unavailable this election, so instead we look to Hillary Clinton, who is a freight train who’s slower and hauling some corporate baggage, but she’s still going our direction and can achieve a good speed.

Trump wants to rip up the rail line so no train can run on it ever again, and probably build a wall out of the pieces.
