I sort of decided very loudly that I wanna be like you when I grow up. (Ignoring the fact that I’m already 24. Phsst~ age is just a number.)

WAYS TO GROW UP TO BE LIKE SEANAN

* Take joy in little things.  Yes, even if it makes people call you “childish.”  There is nothing childish about being happy, and there is nothing mature about being sad. * Remember that reviews have three end states: good, bad, and “not for me.”  A thing that is not for you is not inherently bad.  If it were, all forms of pudding would vanish from the face of the Earth, and the people who love pudding would be sad.  Accept that you are not always the target market. * That said, there is nothing wrong with pointing it out when you are never the target market.  There’s a big difference between “I don’t like bell peppers so I cannot fairly judge this pizza” and “this author seems to think women are a legend told by rabbits, and it makes their work somewhat alienating and uncomfortable to read.” * You can be a legend told by rabbits, if you want. * When you find the things you love, the things that define you, intensify those things.  Lean into those things with all your heart, because they will keep you going. * Choose kindness.  Whenever you can, choose kindness. * A story is only as funny as the way you tell it.  Tell your stories well. * Pet cats, smile at children, and flee from bees. * Sometimes you’re gonna need to spend a whole day stretched out on the couch watching police procedurals and drinking orange juice.  That’s cool.  You do you. *
