The cold damp air seemed to soak to his bones as James looked at the four dead vicious hounds at his feet, his laser pistol still warm.
He was in the marshlands and every direction he turned toward was more of the same under the green-gray, radiated sky, save for the crooked shell of a house he stood in front of. This would have to do for the night.
One more night to add to the many spent away from Thomas’s arms. The thought was no less agonizing than the previous night, or the night before that, or the night before that—stretching back to—when?—Two months ago when they’d become separated.
James stepped inside the burnt and hole spattered house. Cold water sloshed around his ankles. The ground slumped up against the back wall and out of the water. He took off his power armor and unrolled his mattress there.
He also took out the old wooden pencil and half-burnt magazine he’d found and began to write:

He stopped, unable to continue. He looked skyward and blinked until the tears dried out. Then he carefully put away the pencil and magazine and tried to sleep, clutching his laser pistol beside him.
A lot of times when ppl talk about a woman’s strength or the strength that women have collectively, they’re actually talking about women’s capacity to take a lot of shit. Which has actually been foisted on women relentlessly and continually for centuries.
So like. It sounds disingenuous to me. Essentially ppl are saying, Nice job absorbing the physical and emotional violence consistently hurled at you since birth. As if there were the option to escape it. As if the attempt to escape it weren’t met with even more violence.
“This woman is so strong. She forgave her husband’s infidelity. She sacrificed everything for her family.” The takeaway from that is that for a woman, societally accepted strength involves behaving as if your own needs and feelings and agenda are meaningless in comparison with everyone else around you.
It’s false, hollow praise. It’s more manipulation.

Some assholes have been putting nails in cheese and treats in dog parks in Chicago and Massachusetts. Also adding antifreeze to water bowls.

Antifreeze is fucking deadly as shit. Whilst my mom worked in the vets office the neighbor of a cat owner had become sick of his neighbors tom spraying by his house so he left antifreeze out for the cat. Animals are weirdly attracted to the smell and will drink it.
The cat was given to the vets and for 2 days it’s insides were slowly dissolved by the acids and it bled from his nose, mouth and even eyes.
On the second day, the vet not being able to help and refusing to let the cat suffer any longer put the cat down. The neighbor who did not deny his crimes didn’t even offer to pay the woman’s vet bill.

my friend had a cat and it drank antifreeze that was puddled in the driveway and one day they were knitting and it just vomited up all of its internal organs and fell over dead on her lap.

A neighbor of mine threw a ball of hamburger full of rat poison pellets over our fence for my son’s dog. He survived, barely, but has had nerve damage ever since.
Okay, listen up, if your pet drinks antifreeze, do you know what the cure is? Alcohol. That’s right. To save your furry little friend you have to get them drunk out of their faces. Antifreeze is an inhibitor and stops your enzymes from working, but luckily alcohol stops that from happening. Ajit Pai killed Net Neutrality. You’ll start seeing the effects you were warned about on April 23rd. Oh, and he apparently got an award for Courage from the NRA gun nuts, too.
You can still help by calling your senators and representatives. We just need ONE MORE PERSON on our side to get the senate portion of Congress to overrule the FCC’s decision to kill net neutrality. The battle for the net won’t end there, but it’s a start. Go to battleforthenet to find out who your reps are and where they stand, and CONTACT THEM.
Twenty-three states are also suing the FCC for this. I haven’t looked into it yet, but I assume big businesses like Google and Amazon are as well. Nevertheless, we can’t rely on lengthy lawsuits alone. The changes to your internet start in less than two months. We don’t have a whole lot of time.
Blow this up. Contact your reps. Please, do something! We HAVE to get the decision overruled!
