Trauma often messes with one’s ability to say “no”.
You either consciously or subconsciously think, “I don’t want to hurt this person’s feelings” or “If I say no, then they’ll hurt me” or “It won’t really be that bad” or “I can handle this” or “I need to do this to prove myself” or “I deserve this”, or you forget that “no” is even an option.
It’s still not your fault if you didn’t say “no”, even if you think maybe you could have. It’s still not your fault. You didn’t deserve what happened to you and you didn’t bring it upon yourself. It was never your fault.
I just cried when I read this. Thank you.
It’s also not your fault if you continue having trouble saying “no” later on when you’ve realized what happened to you and that you deserved better. You’re going to have days where you think “damn it I deserve to be heard, I’ll do what I want,” and those are good days. You’re also going to have days where you can’t fathom saying “no”, it’s too hard, it’s too frightening, and that’s ok too because recovery is not linear and as long as you keep having days where you think “I have a voice and I WILL be heard,” you are still recovering.
Once you realise that a game’s worth is not in its perfection, but in your ownenjoyment level, then you’re going to have a lot more fun playing video games
i feel kinda fucked up that im living in a country with a nazi regime and not being able to do anything about it and nothing is working. we need to take to the streets in droves and riot. gather thousands of people. throw rocks at the white house. sprinkle sugar on the campgrounds where the tents are gonna be built (2 lbs of sugar can ruin up to one ton of unset concrete). or throw hydrogen peroxide filled water balloons at the exposed steel to corrode it faster because theyre literally building concentration camps in 106°F texas heat for children who cannot regulate their body temperature like adults
nobody in power is listening so we have to do it ourselves
if you’ve seen the breaking news that trump just signed an executive order today to end the family separation policy here’s some quick info to keep things in perspective
this doesn’t end the “zero tolerance” policy of prosecuting anyone who crosses the border “illegally”
the only thing this changes is that going forward, entire families will be detained together while awaiting prosecution
this offers no solution for freeing the thousands of children currently held in ICE child prisons or any path to reuniting them with their families
children will still be detained and treated as criminals
this will likely lead to thousands of families being held in ICE facilities and tent cities that will face the exact same issues of overcrowding, abuse, and inhumane conditions that exist in the child prisons
this is not a victory or a solution. This is the administration trying to cover their asses and avoid any more public outrage. They want people to see this as the end of the news story and go back to their lives. They want people to forget the thousands of children they are still keeping in cages in ICE facilities across the nation. This issue is not over and we cannot stop being outraged until we are given proof that the thousands of kidnapped children are returned to their families, and that the policy of arresting and prosecuting people who cross the border is ended.
LISTEN I need everyone to go watch The Exorcist (the show, not the movie) on Amazon or Hulu so Amazon says “hey people are watching, how about a third season?” In return you will get:
-soft boys, often crying, more often touching each other on their soft boy faces
-kickass ladies
-John Cho
-Geena Davis
-smart criticisms of the Catholic Church by devout believers
-canonically gay main character who kisses another man on the mouth on your own TV screen
-condemnation of religious conversion therapy by a goddamn priest who apologizes to the victim directly for the actions of people who used religion as justification
-a found family of foster kids who all love each other VERY MUCH
-Mexican main character who often does his prayers/exorcisms in Spanish (and it’s Alfonso Herrera aka Hernando from Sense8 so like hello beautiful)
-distinction between believing in God and believing in the Church
-sensitive gay ex-priest abuse survivor with a harsh exterior fiercely telling an abused little girl she is loved and there is nothing wrong with her
-badass black man who cannot be killed
-a whole convent of exorcist nuns ready to fuck demons up
