Treebeard has a beautiful quote, “Hill. Yes, that was it. But it is a hasty word for a thing that has stood here ever since this part of the world was shaped” that reflects both his respect for nature, but also his immense age. It really shapes his character’s view and it makes the reader stop and think about every description Tolkien gives of the landscape.

And if you use that quote more than three times when your family is out hiking and they mention climbing a hill, they’ll eventually stop inviting you to join them.
