“Yeah but am I hurting enough to take a painkiller?”
– everyone with chronic pain ever
You are, btw.
Dont wait for it to get worse. You deserve relief now.
AND – if you stop/lessen the pain now it will be less later, not more. Hasing pain increases susceptability to nother pains waiting in the wings. Pain causes inflammation in the area – even without other causes! just the pain itself! – sos getting rid of that pain lessens new ones, and can even stop/prevent them for a time.
Take the med, feel better now. AND probly feel better later, too.
If it hurts enough that you thinked of pain relief, it hurts enough to use it.
“But if you take the painkillers, you’ll get dependent on them!”
Oh, fuck off. If we are taking ‘dependent’ to mean ‘requiring them to function normally’, then news flash: PAIN IS NOT NORMAL FUNCTION. PAIN IS YOUR BODY TELLING YOU SOMETHING IS WRONG. People who need painkillers are dependent on them to not have pain, regardless of whether or not they’ve ever taken any. Stop insisting that people have to live with pain to avoid being addicted to drugs they already have to take to function normally.
And stop demonising painkillers. Stop this “opiate crisis” crap. Sometimes people need help to not be in pain all the time. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than the alternative of people being in pain all the time. And if you think otherwise – if you really think that not taking painkillers is somehow better than people not having to suffer, than people being even more restricted in their day to day activities than they would be with the painkillers? You can go fellate a cactus, you self-centered, unempathetic jackass.
Fuck’s sake.
