Security experts have released information on a pair of major security flaws, arguably some of the biggest ever. The Meltdown and Spectre exploits target Intel (unknown for certain, imo, if any others are affected) CPU chips and can access private information extremely easily. This affects all chips made over the course of decades.

Verge has a clean article on it, but Gizmodo, tech papers, Google, Firefox, most sources are talking about the issue. Do update, especially if your system is necessary for work.
