right so i was thinking earlier about what if Peter Ashe had sent Flint and Vane to savannah instead of finishing the trial. it might not make sense but just imagine:
- peter coming along to talk to james about miranda and thomas before sending them off
- only he’s not exactly talking to james, is he. nah, he’s talking to Captain Flint. who’s immediate reaction is ‘don’t even sAY THEIR NAMES YOU AS GOOD AS KILLED THEM BOTH’
- and vane is sitting there like ‘i came out to attack people and im honestly not having fun right now’
- vane and flint being taken to the field and then thomas is there and the reunion happens and vane is like. wait whats happening here
- flint. flint what are you doing. where are you going. what – flint come back wE’RE A TEAM DON’T LEAVE A BROTHER BEHIND. WHO’S THAT.
- WHY ARE YOU KISSING HIM
- FLINT WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT IS NOT THE PLAN
- thomas being able to comfort james after miranda’s death and stopping him from going Full Flint™
- vane trying to discuss their plan and having to remind james and thomas look he’s not going to disappear if you look away
- they leave savannah within three days. they only stay so long because thomas wouldn’t leave the other prisoners and james wouldn’t leave thomas and vane wouldn’t leave Captain Flint. I’m only here for the good of nassau
- honestly. i don’t want you to take this as a sign that i like you
- james: you think i care about that right now
- ^^ he really doesn’t
cool so im returning to this au bc i have. more feelings about it:
- this should have been obvious but i realised it would be even better if miranda wasn’t dead
- peter just decided ‘fuck it’ after she worked out that he betrayed them
- and got his guards to arrest them both, but kept miranda in charlestown and sent james off to savannah
- with vane
- who had come to rescue him during his ‘trial’
- miranda: but i thought you said captain vane hated you
- vane: I DO
- (sure charles)
- (this definitely ends in an ot4, i’m letting u know now)
- thomas, james and vane save miranda
- billy is incredibly confused that there’s now apparently a new person who likes flint
- most of the s3 stuff happens
- only flint is in a significantly better emotional state, thank god. he doesn’t shave his hair
- miranda and thomas leave him messages in books
- vane visits the house occasionally NOT BECAUSE I LIKE YOU GUYS OR ANYTHING. miranda and thomas sitting there like yeah, sure charles
- now there are two pirate captains bringing back books from prizes
- thomas builds a new shelf to keep them on. bc he’s a lil shit he makes it just a bit too tall for vane and james to see the top shelf easily
- vane is captured after rescuing jack. but then!! guess who knows a fuck of a lot about law and is one of the most educated men on the island, with some very good reasons to want to keep him alive? that’s right! t dot ham is on the case
- i, knowing nothing about law, am not sure how exactly, but he manages to stall the trial long enough for vane to be rescued
- bc fuck that self-sacrificing shit, it was not the only way
- thomas, miranda and vane catch up to james after the final battle with hornigold
- and then ot4 stuff happens
- thomas resigns himself to never waking up without hair in his face
- it’s fine. really.
- and then no one gets sent to savannah and vane goes on the account with jack and anne and comes back every few weeks to see his partners, who have decided to walk away from the sea and find some peace. you’ll understand eventually, charles.
- vane: the fuck i will.
- james: fuck you too, charles
- thomas: or, we could all just fuck
- [vane and james turn to thomas, eyes wide]
- thomas: what, we’ve all heard you say worse
