Don’t read if you haven’t watched s4ep1-5 of ‘Black Sails’ yet! Spoilers for the first half of season 4 and speculation for the rest of it!

If…if (!) Thomas indeed turns out to be alive, then the show foreshadowed this revelation a long time ago.

In the Hamiltons’ house, there was a painting of Ariadne (read: Thomas) being abandoned by Theseus (read: James).

Could the long thread also be Meditations itself and Thomas’ ‘know no shame’ inscription, as it is reoccurring throughout the series? If it all plays out like this, I’ve never seen a television series tightly pack in so much foreshadowing, it’s an absolute revelation.

Sorry, somehow I didn’t catch this. I’m a bit overworked and must have overlooked it.

“Could the long thread also be Meditations itself and Thomas’ ‘know no shame’ inscription, as it is reoccurring throughout the series?”

Yes, yes, yesssss.:) Brilliant observation. That’s the kinda thing I meant. In our story ‘Ariadne’s thread’ is Thomas’ showing James he doesn’t have to feel ashamed of himself, his showing James a way through this ‘labyrinth’.
