And Flint intercepted him on his way back home. Re Hennessey… Yeah, I like to think he suspected and felt guilty at what he did to James and what horrors it unleashed onto the world.

Nope – not fanon. I just checked the transcript for 2×09 and Abigail mentions that the Maria Aleyne was headed for Charlestown.
