I accidentally thought up a rogue one library au (part 1)

so i work in services at a grad school library (i sit at the front desk and answer people’s questions, sort and reshelve books, deal with support tickets and phones, etc etc. imagine all the fun of customer service but all your customers are anxious grad students and indignant professors who don’t understand how the internet works) and i’m really amused by the idea of library AUs so here goes nothing

• baze, bodhi, jyn, and cassian are all part of the services team and take turns Suffering at the front desk together (more on this later)
• bodhi is a fifth year undergrad engineering student from the rival school
• he’s working a job at his actual school and also here in addition to his schoolwork
• he constantly comes into his shift with a triple espresso and a look on his face that suggests death is coming
• k2 is the long-suffering tech support guy who hides in a cubicle behind the desk and only comes out very begrudgingly in case of printer emergency
• he also started out at the rival school
• [deadpan] “they pay slightly better here”
• chirrut is a grad student and baze’s boyfriend who comes into the library every couple days to study
• he just comes over and leans on the desk like “how’s it going babe” and baze is just like pls help me
• he has a very sweet guide dog. she’s a chocolate lab named kyber and she loves her dads very much.
• whenever the phone rings, jyn and bodhi have a staring match of anxiety chicken for who has to pick it up
• 75% of the time baze just sighs and picks up the phone on his side of the desk
• cassian has codenames for all of the Problem Patrons
• he’s texting the others on his lunch break like “seagulls incoming saw them on way out brace urselves”
• the seagulls are a particularly cantankerous old couple
• i especially love this because i can just straight lift conversations from work and superimpose them onto this AU
• bodhi: hey you need anything from upstairs?
• baze: the sweet release of death
• bodhi: ……so what kind of tea do you want
• baze: chai
• bodhi: cool brb
• i have so many ideas you guys
