did i miss the part in the show where they said Thomas commited suicide? (no snark there, I honestly can’t remember). Or was it just heavily implied?

“And upon discovering the affair, Thomas went mad with grief. His despair so great, even the asylum couldn’t protect him from himself.” – Richard Guthrie said that to Miranda in 104 and of course he knew only the gossip that was all over London back then. But he was also dealing with Alfred Hamilton for years and probably heard the story from him as well.

The worst part of this IMO is Thomas,the beautiful and idealistic soul who only wanted to make world a better place was destroyed by Bethlem and suffered enough abuse to take his own life.

Except that Thomas knew about James and Miranda. I don’t think he killed himself… he just died of a broken heart ;_;

Great,just make it worse @zoinomiko :(((  There are many theories on how/if Thomas died and broken heart is too a very possible one. To be locked up in hell,knowing that he will never see his beloved again and wondering about their fate…that is too horrible.

I think, if Thomas did kill himself it was because he was told an exaggerated story of what happened to James and Miranda. It doesn’t seem right to me that Thomas would kill himself “just because” he was imprisoned and tortured, it would need more emotional pain, which would also lead to dying of broken heart. In my head, if Thomas killed himself, it was because of the (undeserved) guilt he felt of what happened to James.

Knowing now how much B.S. the story Richard repeated was, I wouldn’t be surprised if he died from abuse or neglect (assuming he is dead!) and people just heaped more crap onto the shit pile by saying it was suicide.

He’s not dead my friends. Right? @bereweillschmidt

*lives in denial*

he escaped Bedlam and tried to get to Nassau. Thomas got into a ship under another name and covered his face with a neckerchief waiting for his hair to grow longer.

of course when he got to England, Flint was already a sensation. he was afraid of the man, so he tried to avoid him and his crew.

that’s the reason we haven’t seen him 😀
