Flint has spies – or, at the very least, one spy! Flint has a spy in Port Royal! (That is, of course, if he didn’t lie to Richard Guthrie and actually got the information with more, er, ‘hands on’ methods. Could be either that or inconsistent writing.)
But damn…can you imagine?
