– high chance they will read your fanfic/meta. Tolkien is not an easy read and they probably have the patience/skills to get through your writing easy

-no, really. drama starts, the oldies in the fandom just go “eh no” and kind of just start this weird fandom blanket to muffle the drama until the people making it happen realize it’s suddenly dark and nobody can hear them and they just stop because they’re not getting the reaction they want
-fans range from age 16 to like, forty something, single or married, with kids or without, with jobs or without, but here we are all gathered together for gay dwarves and elves or something
-lots of patience. like nobody in their right mind would expect you to know every single detail of canon so when somebody doesn’t know something the usual reaction is to simply patiently explain it or send you links to the appropriate wiki page
